Press Release | CBAA, MSU-IIT Holds TEENPRENEUR: Iligan City Youth Entrepreneurship Congress

The College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA), MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology is set to hold TEENPRENEUR: Iligan City Youth Entrepreneurship Congress on October 25, 2017 at the MSU-IIT Gym, with a theme of “Driving Iligan City’s Competitiveness through Youth Entrepreneurship.” The event seeks to mainstream entrepreneurship among the youth while enriching their holistic experience through relevant programs in innovation and entrepreneurship.

The event will have two major parts: the youth congress and the culmination of the Patigayon Awards.

The Youth Congress

The Iligan City Youth Entrepreneurship Congress seeks to promote and develop the entrepreneurial mindset among young Iliganons through plenary sessions on youth entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, and grassroots innovation. The congress features a roster distinguished speakers, including RD Linda Boniao, Regional Director of the Department of Trade and Industry Region 10; Mr. Rey Bufi, trainer and founder of The Storytelling Project; and Mr. Prim Paypon, founder of The Dream Project PH.

The second part of the 1-day affair is the culmination activity of the first-ever Patigayon Awards. The Iligan Business Idea of the Year is a business idea competition open to all public and private Senior High Schools in Iligan City. It started in June of this year and is geared towards the promotion of entrepreneurship among batan-ong Iliganon by providing a venue where the participants create and pitch innovative and commercially viable products related to the local tourism industry. From the declared top 10 finalists, the judges will select the top 5 teams with the highest scores to be declared as winners.

Another category of the Patigayon Awards is the Iligan Youth Business Choice of the Year that aims to recognize excellent local business establishments, which have more involvement in the youth sector. It hopes to boost competitiveness among local players thereby uplifting the way they do business.

The awarding ceremony will also feature TEENPRENEUR Testimonials, a mini-talk show of Iligan City’s young entrepreneurs, to inspire the young entrepreneurs. Invited guests include Mr. Jherald Ebao of Pop Snacks, Mr. Cliff Jefferson Sumalpong of I Am So Blessed Daily, and Mr. Constantino Brasileño of Knapp.


teenpreneur iligan cityTEENPRENEUR: Iligan City Youth Entrepreneurship Congress is an extension program of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA), MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology,  in active partnership with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Education Iligan City, Negosyo Center at MSU-IIT, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension and iDEYA: Center of Innovation and Technopreneurship with the support of the Local Government of Iligan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan Inc. and JCI Iligan.
